Introduction

Hollywood is a fickle mistress, and it's hard to predict what movies will be the most popular in 2022. However, we can make some educated guesses based on past trends and early buzz around the newest films. Here are my best bets for what will be the biggest hits at the box office come 2022:

A Ghost Story

A Ghost Story is about a ghost who wears a white sheet. The ghost is a man who died in a car accident and can no longer tell time, so his wife leaves him behind when she moves on with her life. He slowly discovers that he's not really dead, but rather trapped in their old house by the force of their love for each other.

A Ghost Story has been directed by David Lowery (Ain't Them Bodies Saints) and produced by Casey Affleck (Manchester by the Sea).

Get Out

• The cast Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Bradley Whitford, Catherine Keener.

• The setting is a quiet suburb.

• Plot: A young black man visits his white girlfriend's family estate where he learns that they are not the people he thinks they are.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a movie about the Jedi. It's also about the last Jedi, but we'll get to that in a minute. This is a movie about how one of these things is not like the other thing, and it has great acting, excellent cinematography and an incredible score by John Williams that makes you feel like you're flying through space with Luke Skywalker on his way to rescue Rey from Kylo Ren when he's actually just sitting at home watching TV with Yoda while Leia gets bored and decides to go shopping for some new clothes instead of playing video games with her friends R2-D2 or C3PO.

This movie is definitely worth your time if you're into science fiction action adventure stories where everyone dies except for our hero who becomes more powerful than ever before even though he didn't really do anything except sit around thinking sad thoughts while his friends fight off evil forces trying to kill them because they want revenge against him since they think he killed their father Darth Vader back when they were younglings but really we know it wasn't him so let's just move along shall we?

The Shape of Water

The Shape of Water is a romantic fantasy about a woman who falls in love with a fish man. The movie is directed by Guillermo del Toro and won 4 Oscars, including Best Director, Best Actress (Sally Hawkins), Best Supporting Actor (Richard Jenkins) and Best Original Score. It was also nominated for 13 Academy Awards.

The film received mixed reviews from critics but has an audience score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. A large part of the praise centered around the performances of Hawkins as Elisa Esposito and Doug Jones as Creature/Gill Man; however many critics noted that it had too many cliches and issues with pacing.

Thor Ragnarok

Thor Ragnarok is a 2017 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Thor, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the sequel to 2011's Thor and 2013's Thor: The Dark World, and is the seventeenth film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is directed by Taika Waititi from a screenplay by Eric Pearson, with a story by Craig Kyle, Christopher Yost, Stephany Folsom and Eric Pearson. It Comes at Night

It Comes at Night is a post-apocalyptic horror film directed by Trey Edward Shults and written by Shults and Stephen King. It stars Joel Edgerton, Christopher Abbott, Carmen Ejogo, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. The film follows a family who must fight for survival when an unknown threat comes to their home in the middle of the night.

The movie was released on June 9th, 2017 to critical acclaim from both fans and critics alike; it was highly praised for its acting performances as well as its cinematography which gave viewers an immersive experience that felt like they were actually inside this world themselves. It currently has a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 126 reviews with an average rating of 7/10 (read our review here).

The Big Sick

The Big Sick is a movie about the love between Kumail Nanjiani, a Pakistani comedian, and Emily Gardner, an American woman. It's based on their story, which was written by Kumail and Emily themselves. The movie won an award for best original screenplay in 2017 at the Golden Globes Awards.

Lady Bird

If you were to make a list of the best movies of all time, Lady Bird would probably be on it. It's a coming-of-age comedy-drama film written and directed by Greta Gerwig. It stars Saoirse Ronan as a teenager who wants to escape from her hometown in Sacramento, California to attend an east coast university. She struggles with her relationship with her parents while she attends Catholic school and has trouble making friends at a new high school. Her mother is also struggling financially while trying to keep up appearances as though their family is still wealthy, which makes Lady Bird feel guilty for thinking about leaving home behind.

The movie received critical acclaim from critics upon its release in 2018 because it does such an amazing job capturing what it feels like being young but also shows how hard things can get for some families in America today. It's one of those movies that everyone should see before they die!

Dunkirk

Dunkirk is a 2017 war film written, directed, and co-produced by Christopher Nolan. The movie is based on the evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force from Dunkirk in 1940 during World War II. In his review of the film for The New York Times, critic A.O. Scott described it as "a visual spectacle so stunning that many will want to see it again."

In January 2018, Nolan was announced to be developing a new trilogy of films set in Batman's universe called The Batman (2020), followed by two more untitled films set in that same universe (2021 and 2022).

Good Time

Good Time is a 2017 American crime drama film written and directed by the Safdie brothers, and starring Robert Pattinson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Barkhad Abdi.

It follows the story of Connie Nikas (Pattinson), who has to race against time to bail his brother Nick out of jail after he is arrested for robbery.

The film had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2017,[5][6] where it won the award for Best Screenplay.[7] It also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8,[8] before going into general release in France on May 31,[9] in Australia on June 7[10], in Germany on July 13[11], and in the United States on August 11.[12][13]
